Kitty Hawk Kites Shipping Policy - COVID19 update
Please note that we have seen slight delay from carrier facilities as there has been an increase of shipments throughout the country and have extended our fulfillment period to up to 4 business days. Be advised that some orders COULD take up to 14 days to arrive. We have seen deliveries arrive in 4 days, some in 14, as the postal carriers are just running beyond capacity at this time. If you do have any questions about tracking and delivery time after you have placed an order, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to postal carriers not being able to guarantee on time expedited delivery due to high volume of shipments, we are unable to offer expedited delivery at this time. Sorry to disappoint but we hate to disappoint if a package doesn't arrive by the time it is needed.
Pre-shipment status of tracking
Due to the nature of high volume online orders at this time, and the limited capacity for the postal service, we have seen delays in updating the tracking numbers and they may sit in pre-shipment status. We suggest waiting at least 5 days before contacting us. All our packages leave our facility to be dropped off at the post office at 2pm EST.
Delays in transit and tracking
If you see a delay in tracking update from the carrier, please use your tracking number to file a package Inquiry before contacting us as we have no control over shipments once they leave our facility and you will need to contact the carrier directly. We do not file claims on behalf of the customer, but we do insure all packages going out. The first step for a delay package is to file a package inquiry. If carrier does not come back with updated tracking within a week then a lost package claim must be filed. Once a claim is filed with the carrier we can either issue a refund or reship the package to you.

Domestic Orders (U.S. Contiguous 48 States):
Most Domestic orders are shipped via UPS or USPS within 1-5 business days from North Carolina. Orders are NOT shipped on Saturdays, Sundays, Federal Holidays or UPS Holidays. If we receive your order after 9am EST, on a weekend day or holiday, your in-stock order will ship out in the following 1-5 business days. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii are shipped via US Postal Service only. If you need to receive your order by a specific date, please call or email us to check availability and delivery time (please allow up to 6 business days from the day your order ships out for delivery). We will ship via UPS or USPS (shipping carrier used is at the discretion of Kitty Hawk Kites) to physical addresses, PO BOX addresses will only be shipped via USPS. Please double-check your shipping information for accuracy before submitting your order to ensure timely delivery!
"Days In Transit" for estimated delivery times start from the day AFTER the order has been shipped and does NOT include weekend days or Federal/UPS Holidays. For example, if you live in Texas and you place your order on a Thursday after 9am EST, and we shipped your order out from North Carolina on Friday, the estimated delivery time for UPS would be 3-4 business days...giving an estimated delivery day of Wednesday or Thursday of the following week.

All international orders are shipped via The United States Postal Service unless you contact us to make an alternative shipping arrangements. Oversize or Heavy orders are subject to additional shipping charges and we will notify you if these charges apply to your order. At the time of placing your international order we estimate a general shipping fee and that fee may be adjusted depending on the order and destination. Due to a high level of fraud, Credit Card payments are accepted at our discretion and will only be accepted if the billing and shipping addresses are the same and verifiable (Kitty Hawk Kites reserves the right to cancel orders if all requirements are not satisfied). PayPal payment is also accepted, but must have a CONFIRMED billing/shipping address listed on the PayPal payment and be a VERIFIED PayPal account. When possible, if a customer submits multiple orders for items that can be combined into one shipment, Kitty Hawk Kites reserves the right to combine the items from multiple orders into one shipment to conserve packaging material and reduce the number of shipments you have to keep track of. We will only combine items from multiple orders if all the items are being shipped to the same address and all scheduled to ship at the same time.
Special Orders/Drop Shipped Orders:
Certain kites are not regularly stocked items and are drop-shipped directly to the customer from the manufacturer. Special Order/Drop-Ship items are subject to a shipping fee that is calculated during the checkout process (free shipping offers are not applied to these items). These items are not available for rush delivery or international orders, please allow ample time for order processing and ground delivery service. All Special Order/Drop-Ship items are Final Sale (NO EXCHANGES, REFUNDS or RETURNS).
Gift Card Orders:
Kitty Hawk Kites gift cards are shipped via United States Postal Service. Please note: gift cards will not be replaced if lost of stolen...please treat your Kitty Hawk Kites gift card as you would cash.
Kayaks and SUP Boards are shipped within the U.S. 48 Contiguous States via ground freight shipping methods (companies may vary) and are not available for rush shipping or international orders. Please allow ample time for us to arrange shipping and delivery. Shipping rates and times may vary depending on weight, size and destination...please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions regarding the shipping rates. The customer MUST be present at the time of delivery to inspect for damages and sign off on the delivery. All kayaks and SUPs are NOT elegible for any free shipping offer and shipping rates vary depending on the board and quantity of boards.
Packages Damaged in Transit
Your item(s) must be inspected for damages and shortages immediately upon delivery, before the delivery truck and driver leave. The carrier will supply you with a bill of landing, you must indicate if your item was damaged or the liability for the damage will fall on the customer/receiver, not the shipping company or Kitty Hawk Kites. Do not sign the bill of landing and accept the delivery before speaking with the delivery company if the item is damaged. You MUST notify the shipper and Kitty Hawk Kites at the time of delivery if the item(s) you received is damaged. If we are not contacted at the time of delivery it will be the customers responsibility to contact the carrier and file a claim. If you never received the package and we show by delivery confirmation that it was delivered to the shipping address provided, it is the customer's responsibility to contact the carrier and file a claim. Also, if the customer is not present at time of delivery, the customer assumes all liability for lost, damaged or stolen deliveries.
In the event of a lost package, it is the customer's responsibility to notify the carrier of any possible lost packages and to file a claim. Kitty Hawk Kites is not responsible for packages lost in transit. We do insure all our packages leaving our facility, and can issue any possible refunds on the product after the claim has been filed and accepted by the carrier.

The Team at Kitty Hawk Kites wants our customers to be 100% satisfied! If you are unhappy with your purchase please contact us and we will be happy to assist you with a return or exchange (subject to 25% re-stocking fee). All shipping charges are non-refundable and all returns/exchanges must be received within 30 days of purchase with accompanying receipt/order number.
Please do not send returns without prior authorization. We are unable to accept returns of flown kites or any other used merchandise unless there is a manufacturer’s defect, and to verify items are in NEW condition we may request photos of the products you purchased.
All items MUST be in ORIGINAL CONDITION (unworn, unwashed, unopened) with original packing materials and tags attached. If returned merchandise is not in original new condition, the items will be returned to you at the customers expense. If you have specific returns questions, please contact us before your purchase for specific details.
Items purchased from our online store must be return-shipped to our Kitty Hawk Kites warehouse facility and cannot be returned or exchanged at any physical retail location.
A copy of receipt or proof of purchase is required for every return and/or exchange and all merchandise must be in new, original condition.

FLOWN KITES - Flown kites are not returnable. Kites are flying machines and are designed to be as light as possible. They can break when crashed, stepped on, or flown in excess of their wind range. We sell the best kites we can find from various manufacturers and we test these kites and give input to the manufacturers for improvements as necessary. Since our kites are flying machines, they are not under any warranty for breakage. However, we want you to have a great flying experience so we will provide replacement parts if we can. Customers are responsible for the cost of the part(s) and shipping fees.

The Forbes Candies Story
The Forbes Candies dream began for Marion and Charlie Forbes back in High School. As a young, married couple, they were living with Marion's parents and working to make ends meet. Though Marion's family contributed as best they could, Charlie took a part-time job selling candy bars in a downtown Norfolk office building.
A SWEET IDEA
Charlie's interest in the candy business extended well beyond sales and he quickly found himself, along with Marion in the "candy creation" business. Marion's father, "B" Powell, was a plumber and pipe fitter by trade. He helped Charlie install a gas stove and a candy table; which is a steel table with hot and cold water running through it, into the basement of his home. After adding a couple of copper pots, the young couple was off and running with the first Forbes Candies kitchen right in their very own basement.
Their venture quickly became a "Labor of Love", as they were the sole proprietors of this new candy company. Marion and Charles cooked the candy, boxed it, and then sold the candy door to door, starting out with just peanut brittle and salt-water taffy.
Today's peanut brittle is made exactly as it was then: with sugar, corn syrup, peanuts, etc. and then blended into wonderful pieces of candy. Though the salt-water taffy formula has not changed, the processing certainly has. Charlie and Marion pulled the taffy to eating consistency by using nothing but a hook on the wall. Today this job is done with a pulling machine and air must be added to the raw taffy so it is chewable. The "cut and wrapping" machine has increased the volume of taffy from 64 pieces per minute up to 500 pieces per minute.
A PINCH OF SUGAR AND DETERMINATION
Due to their hard work and effort, Charlie and Marion were able to open their first retail outlet in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1933. The peanut brittle and salt-water taffy equipment was moved from their basement to the new store. Unfortunately, within one month of the store opening, a hurricane wiped them out. Proving their love and perseverance for their craft, Marion and Charlie dug in and started again.
In 1939 they converted a two-car garage on Atlantic Ave. and 17th street into another retail store. They also expanded their candy making to include fudge, pecan logs, sea foam, jellies, etc.
Duty called during World War II, and Charlie went into the Merchant Marines, leaving Marion with the responsibility of raising three children and running the business. During this time, sugar and corn syrup were rationed, and running a candy business without these ingredients was very difficult. Ironically enough, popcorn ended up saving their taffy business. It turned out that Charlie and Marion owned the only popcorn machine in all of Virginia Beach. Because corn and oil could be easily obtained during the war, Marion had a bright idea on how to stay in business. Lines of people, up to a block long; waited their turn to buy a 5-cent bag of popcorn and Forbes Candies was kept in business.
THE DREAM CONTINUES
After the war, Charlie and Marion expanded from from it's two staple confections and placed candy kitchens in major department stores through out the East. which included creamy fudges and homemade chocolates. For Marion and Charles, the dream of Forbes Candies was just beginning to come true.
